Making space for change

Thanks to the generous and joyful support of our donors, we’ve raised $20.7 million for students in the metro Richmond area.

With your incredible trust, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond continues its work creating environments for students to thrive and for community members to come together.

Serving our youth

A lack of space designed for teenagers causes a dramatic decline in teen members over time. This campaign has made it possible for Boys & Girls Clubs to build two facilities to promote college readiness, including academic preparation and opportunities to practice on-the-job skills. We will begin constructing a 15,000 sq. ft. free-standing building in the East End, with plans for completion by the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. Once the teen center in the East End is completed, we will build or renovate spaces in another neighborhood that we’re already serving.

We still face a troubling reality in Richmond and Petersburg: 4 out of 5 students graduate from high school, but only 1 out of 5 is ready for college and life after graduation. In light of these statistics, we are piloting Ready2Win, a program to prepare teens for success after high school. Ready2Win includes opportunities for job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, soft-skills development, entrepreneurship and vocational training. With skilled coaching and mentorships, teens can identify career pathways aligned with their interests and develop plans to map out their futures.

Our vision for college- and life-readiness for our teens is within our grasp because of you.

This is success worth celebrating. We’re beyond grateful—and ready to roll up our sleeves.

Together, we are changing the odds for young people in metro Richmond. Partner with us.
